JAMESTOWN | KITCHEN AND LIVING ROOM REMODEL
When the owners of this home in Jamestown approached us, they had two goals in mind. The first was to update their main living space to allow for a more conducive environment to family time and fellowship. The second was to make their unused formal living room into a much needed space while also increasing the value of their home. We were able to meet both those goals in one fell swoop.
The first part of the renovation included opening up a wall between the kitchen and family room, rearranging their cabinets to make the space more usable and giving a general aesthetic update making the space inviting.
The second part of the renovation included changing the formal living room and adjacent half bath into a main level en-suite allowing for friends and family to stay at their home. Most importantly this allowed aging family members to stay within their home and spend more time with this family. We know family is important and wanted to help! An added bonus, this added a bedroom and full bath to their home for resale.
This project had a few surprises, as do most projects, that we had to navigate. This included additional utilities running in the wall we wanted to remove than originally thought including some major electrical circuits, and of course with wall removal structural integrity. Through inventive design, engineering and in partnership with the homeowners we solved both original goals and fixed the surprises that came up.
This transformation has been a drastic change for the homeowners. Their house once plagued with inefficiencies and problems they thought about every day to a space their family could really use and enjoy together. Making the kitchen with additional lighting, bright airy colors and stratigic design the living space is now a warm and inviting living space for everyone to enjoy.
